So you think you want to nanny? Well, if you do here are some things to think about.
1. You better love kids! I have always loved children...I studied elementary education in college and I always wanted a job that had some interaction with children. In my case I have four...yes you saw correctly...FOUR children I take care of ages six and under. This is my passion though!
2. You better be ready for children to test you! My nanny kids are always coming up with different ways to test me...from wanting to eat right as we are going out the door for school to seeing if I am going to stick to the discipline I say I'm going to stick to. I like to use the three strikes and your out method...although sometimes depending on what happened there is no three strikes and you're out...there is just you're out!
3. You better be ready to have at least one child (if you have more than one) who will cry at every little thing...from being scratched to not wanting to participate in the game of who can get their shoes one first because he needs help with his shoes.
4. If you have a nice car with nice interior I wouldn't suggest being a nanny....Why...because sooner or later you WILL have a child throw up in your car! Thankfully when it happened to me it wasn't horrible! LOL
5. Be prepared to have good days where everyone is behaving but also be prepared to have bad days where you just want to go back home and go back to bed!
6. Last but not least you better be prepared to have fun...whether its going to the library, going to the park, or just staying at home where kids will be kids and you will see their crazy sides!
Now that I've told you these things I want you to know...I have had my bad days where I wonder why I took my job in the first place...but it the end I WOULDN'T change the job I have for the world! I'm so grateful I can be a nanny and help mold my kids into the adults they will sooner or later become!
